There's more to creating characters than just drawing them. there's the history, their birthday, their family and friends to cover. This is a tutorial on making written character profile sheets which can be updated as things about the character change.

Here is a sample of a full one, and the tutorial shows you what you need to make a simple one.

Age: 20

Gender: male

Birthday: 11th of December.

Star sign: Sagittarius

Sagittarius traits he has: Loyal, Lucky, Talkative, Idealistic, Optimistic, Honest, Irrational, Sarcastic, Impatient, Judgemental, Exaggerates and is Straightforward.

Genetic make up: Meika has an average build; he is thin rather than skinny with darkish blue short wavy hair (which makes him seem taller, the way he styles it).
Clothing: Varied, with hues of purples, blues and greens. He often wears flares and white shoes.
Accessories: A gold ring on the middle finger of his left hand, and always wears a watch. He has face markings (which aren’t tattoos, they are two on the left and four on the right of the face) and he wears a yin-yang pendant around his neck. He has scars on his knees and a scar from where he has had his left kidney out. Also has one across the chest from an operation to the lungs.

Quirks and behaviours:
1. Meika is obsessive compulsive about details; he does things in certain ways. He lives in ‘organised mess’, and while not everything needs to be perfect he will obsess over the smaller details. Although he isn’t an artist, he seems to think like one.
2. He bottles serious emotions, but when he reaches a certain limit, will explode.
3. He worries about the other characters, and has a real fear of change.
4. As a character, he is the ‘all rounder’, in that he has ‘loud’ moments and ‘quiet’ moments. There are times when he loves everyone, but can feel the opposite way at others.
5. He easily falls into emotional traps and has little idea of what romance is. He takes personal attacks on his feelings poorly, and these hurt him deeply. He can otherwise take physical attacks well, just so long as it isn’t emotional. He is emotionally in tune with Chook, but is completely open and honest with Zog, while he has the carefree spirit of Pumpkin (he doesn’t share her attitude though).
6. He can ‘burn out’ both physically and emotionally; he doesn’t have the everlasting reserves that Pumpkin has.

A little bit about him: Meika lives with his Grandmother, and has an unseen younger brother who gets away with murder who he can’t stand. He plays the guitar, and aspires to be in a band. He has a lot of confidence, both in himself and other people and pours all his passion into everything he does. He owns a cheetah looking Grey cat Called “Pooka”. He has great trouble with his knees. He used to be a sprinter and coached Chook swimming, this all ended after he was in an accident during an athletics event in year 10. With the track and field events going on at the same time, a pole jumper hit a javelin thrower with his pole and knocked him onto the track with the runners. The javelin managed to pierce his left knee joint whilst Meika twisted the right one tripping over the thrower. He stopped teaching Chook swimming in year 12 and the two have been close friends ever since.
Meika used to be an outcast due to his athletic and sporty nature, and spent little time with other people. He befriended Pumpkin because she was equally an outcast. The two used to be picked on, and so they often joked about the names people called them. They may have been different people, but they were in a similar situation.
Meika was teamed up with Zog of a TAFE project in advertising. They worked well as a team and found that they had many similar interests.
Meika was the one who introduced Chook to the other characters.
